Small hotel in the old quarter
Shutters open at seven.
A small hotel in a 1920s townhouse, two streets from the market.
The house
We kept the stone walls, the old doors and the neighbours.
Locanda is twelve rooms on four floors of a house that has stood on this lane for a hundred years. The doors that once closed the rooms now sit behind the beds, the walls are the same stone, and the baker across the street still opens before we do. We added good mattresses, quiet showers and a roof you will not want to leave.

The quarter
A day around the corner.
Coffee standing at the bar, bread from the oven next door, a long lunch, a slow walk back. We wrote down the day we would give our best friend.
